Moshidi Motshegwa is a great actress by anyone’s standards and her numerous awards including, Lead Actress in a Comedy award at the FNB VITA Awards, Lead Actress in a TV sitcom at the Avanti Awards and Best Actress in a TV Drama at the 2011 SAFTAs is evident of that.
One of Moshidi’s great skills is her ability to deliver a great line. She gives life to Naomi in Rhythm City, and her one-liners are the stuff twitter trends are made of! We take a look at some of her funniest and most memorable quotes.
1. “You are a domkop” – This was previously said to Patricia, her ex cellmate and Hermanus recently.
2. “It’s time Suffocate knew wie is die baas in hierdie plaas.”
3. “Oho Jerusalema!”
4. “Ketla kalama mekhukhu ya Alexander ka lepona for wena Suffocate” This was said to Suffocate when they were arguing about Nkhensani.
5. “I can see English was not your major at school.” Said to Hermanus when he didn’t understand the map of her evil plans.
6. “Patricia, kalama taxi okgutlele Venda oilo ja di avocado le bomamago.” (Patricia you must take a taxi back to your homestead in Venda and go eat avocado’s with your mother) She said this to her ex – con girlfriend Patricia during a disagreement.
7. “Ngizokubhodisa.... and jaiva san” (I am going to kill you, don’t tremble dance rather) This was said to Suffocate when Naomi was declaring war.
8. “Yimi Yimi production.” (Me, Myself and I production) This was said in stressing that she is the boss when Elizabeth wanted to back down from their plan.
9. “Kere hey kea moetsa ngoana le papaho today arata kapa asarate wena ketlao nametsa bus eyang Khabalatsane” (Today I am making a child with your father Miles whether he likes it or not and I will put you on a bus to North West) Naomi said this in a scene with baby Buhle who was a few months at the time.
