The Lyons are back! Empire season 2 premieres on Wednesday, 22 June at 9:30PM. Be sure not to miss it!

With all the plot twists in the first season, we don’t blame you if you’ve forgotten a few details! Never fear, we give you a quick recap, so you’re ready to head back into the wild world of Empire Entertainment.

1. It was good news and bad news for Lucious. Turns out the patriarch of the Lyon family was misdiagnosed with ALS. The disease he does have is highly manageable and – most importantly – not fatal. This would have been great for him, if it weren’t for the bad news: He was arrested for Bunkie's murder and ended the season behind bars.

2. Has Jamal become Lucious version 2.0? Despite no longer having a death sentence, Lucious went ahead and named his gay son Jamal as his replacement in the company. It seems he finally realised that his son has talent and drive. Sadly, Jamal let the power go straight to his head and cut ties with his mother, Cookie, who spent most of the first season helping him build a career.

3. Rhonda’s a murderer and a mom-to-be. Rhonda Lyon walked in on her husband Andre fighting with uncle Vernon, and accidentally killed Vernon in an attempt to save Andre. The pair decided to cover it up, and she also chose that moment to announce that she’s expecting a baby.

4. The Empire is divided. Cookie and Lucious will always love each other on some level, but they aren't exactly friendly right now! At the start of Season 2 it’s basically Lucious and Jamal vs. Cookie, Andre and Hakeem for control of Empire Entertainment. #TeamCookie is bizarrely joined by Lucious’s ex-fiancé, Anika Calhoun.

Get your popcorn ready and don’t miss the premiere of Empire season 2 on Wednesday, 22 June, 9:30PM.
