If you didn’t watch SA’s Got Talentlast night, you missed an epic show! #SAGT, Sundays at 6PM.
In the third and final semi-final, Jesse Govendar and Manila Von Teez were the evening’s biggest winners.
After an exhilarating performance, the drag artist’s fans proved just how much they love her by ensuring she got the highest number of public votes. Congratulations, Manila!
This left musicians Jesse and Nassi at the mercy of the judges who struggled to choose one person to put through to the finals.
“Both of them are very good,” said Shado Twala. “Jesse, you are a multi-instrumentalist and you use your voice to enhance your music and you gave us an amazing performance tonight,” she continued.
“It makes it difficult for me to choose, but because of its uniqueness and the fact that we don’t have many in the country who do opera, I’m going to go with Nassi.”
DJ Fresh, praised Nassi for being brave enough to do something different, but gave his vote to Jesse.
“Mr Govendar, your talent is undeniable,” he said.
It was up to Jamie Bartlett to break the tie. And he didn’t waste any time.
“It’s about what is relevant at this moment for this competition and where we are,” he said. After some consideration and in this moment, I put Jesse forward.”
And just like that, Manila and Jesse are the last contestants to get into the finals. They join four other finalists, Phoenix, Kryptonite Dance Academy, The Professionals and Derek Plaatjies and will battle it out for the R500 000 cash prize at the grand finale next week! (6 November 2016)
