We were shocked when Big Boy rushed into the Gumede home beaten and bruised. His family was having dinner when he stormed into the living room and collapsed.
He spent hours sleeping, with Ruth trying to nurse him back to health. The family was worried sick. They didn’t know what had happened to him and they were scared he would die.
To their relief, Big Boy woke up, but he had very bad news.
His wife, Nandipha, was no longer interested in living in South Africa. She wanted them to start a new life in Zimbabwe. Big Boy decided to take the twins and run away.
When they arrived at the border, Nandipha’s relatives were waiting for him. They beat him up and took the twins back to their mother.
Big Boy ran for three days until he arrived back home. When he told Ruth this, she was devastated. The thought of never seeing the twins again, broke her heart.
Big Boy’s return is bitter sweet. We’re excited to have him back, but we’re sad that Nandipha and the twins are not with him.
