Rhythm City was loaded with drama this year and we loved it! Rhythm City weekdays at 7PM.
From weddings, deaths, shootings and betrayals, we saw it all on Rhythm city this year.
Here are the moments that had our jaws hanging in shock!
1.Mamokete’s death
This was by far the saddest moment on Rhythm City this year. When Mamokete left a party at her house to help Dineo get her doll from Gadifele, a horrible fight broke out. A drunk Gadifele pulled out a gun and shot Mamokete. The beloved Khuse matriarch died later in hospital.
This marked the end of Connie Chiume’s journey on Rhythm City, the actress had played Mamokete for [numer] years.
Watch her emotional goodbye again here:
2.Nomalanga joins Rhythm City
Earlier this year Rhythm City set out to find a brand new actress to join the show. The actress would play Nomalanga, the daughter of a KwaZulu-Natal based mining magnate. Nomalanga would be engaged to Zolani (played by Melusi Mbele). The auditions ran online and after thousands of entries were sent through, Durbanite, Nomalanga Shozi got the role.
Nomalanga became the villainous character we all love to hate. After a lot of plotting and scheming, she finally married Zolani, the man of her dreams in a traditional wedding. We cannot wait to see more of Nomalanga next year!
3.Themba has an affair with both of his brother’s wives
This was the betrayal to end all betrayals! Both of Suffo’s wives had an affair with his younger brother, Themba. Niki got close to Themba because she was lonely and Puleng had sex with him because she was desperate to get pregnant.
The Ndlovu wives did everything to conceal their secrets, but their efforts weren’t enough.
4.Suffocate finds out about Niki’s infidelity and shoots Themba
We couldn’t help feeling sorry for Suffocate when he found out about Niki and Themba’s affair! We had never seen Suffo cry the way he did that day. But his heartache soon turned to rage. He confronted Themba with a gun and shot him in the arm. We were convinced he would kill him, but luckily, Themba got away.
5.Doc dies on his wedding day
Doc Dandala was by no means a perfect man, but we were sad when he died. Zinzi had planned a surprise wedding for her parents at Zero 11. But the fairy tale wedding turned tragic when Doc went home to fetch the rings. Lerato was there and a fight broke out. Bongi came in and pushed Doc away from Lerato. He bumped his head and died.
Zinzi walked in and found her mother weeping over her father’s dead body. Rest in peace Doc Dandala.
We cannot wait to see how the drama unfolds on Rhythm City next year. We have a feeling it’s going to keep us at the edge of our seats!
