Backchat

eNCA's newest talk show Backchat, starts airing on e.tv this Sunday, 18 June at 10:25AM.

Challenging, interrogative, edgy and getting into the heads and hearts of South African millennials, Backchat will explore real issues that drive, motivate and challenge the youth. Backchat is a platform for tomorrow’s leaders and decision makers to have their say and put their stamp on the national discourse.

Each week, in what we hope will be a noisy roundtable, a special panel will convene and discussions – and often, arguments - will commence. It’s a first for SA television and a must-see show for South Africans of all ages who want a glimpse into the future of the country. No topic is taboo and the louder it gets, the better it looks.

Early subjects include youth unemployment; inter-racial relationships; ‘black tax’; preserving indigenous languages and xenophobia. The turbo-charged TV talk show will rely heavily on social media to drive the discourse, allowing important debate to continue long after the credits have rolled.

Backchat features two young hosts who have their fingers on the pulse of their age group, 24/7.

Busisiwe Gumede is a journalist and broadcaster who works at eNCA and also has extensive radio experience. She loves to talk and is passionate about bringing South Africa’s youth into the national dialogue.

Siya Mbuzwana Vithi, aka Sia Leita, is also a radio convert who has a long-term relationship with Hip Hop and loves bringing diverse groups of people together and kick-starting an argument.

Watch Backchat on Sundays at 10:25AM. Repeats Mondays at 10:55AM.
