Puleng chats about her relationship with Mangaliso and her new responsibilities.
Rhythm City’s Puleng has found love with her traditional healer, Mangaliso. At first she was against consulting an inyanga, but Puleng has now found love in the arms of the man who she consulted to help her move on from losing her daughter.
Puleng’s mom, Cuba, is against the relationship, even though she was the one who initially wanted Puleng to seek the help of an inyanga.
We talk to actress Tebogo Khalo about her character’s love story and her new duties.
Why is Puleng’s mother against the relationship with Mangaliso?
Deep down Cuba knows that Mangaliso is a good man but she strongly believes that Suffocate and Puleng are meant to be together. Puleng is not going against her, she’s just following her heart.
What does Puleng love about Mangaliso?
Mangaliso is a caring and sweet man. He is well-educated, respectful and compassionate.
Is Puleng ready for a serious relationship?
She’s definitely ready for a relationship and it’s been a while since she and Suffocate parted and she’s dealt with it. Suffocate and Puleng were good friends before their relationship, and being able to maintain the friendship after their relationship is lovely. Puleng’s relationship with Mangaliso is definitely not driven by loneliness, because Puleng has other things to focus on, like her business.
Dating Mangaliso comes with responsibilities, is Puleng happy to take them on?
One of the most important things about a relationship is sacrifice and compromise from both sides. And yes sometimes we may not be happy with doing certain things for our partners, but if you love and care for them you are bound to make them and yourself happy.
A couple of weeks back Puleng thought there was chemistry between her and Fats. Could this also be infatuation?
Puleng only thought that there was chemistry between Fats and herself after they kissed. So I think it was more of a physical attraction than anything. The difference with Mangaliso is that she got to know him before feeling an emotional connection to him, which is important in a relationship. The kiss erased all doubts and sealed things for her. She knew then this was the kind of chemistry that isn’t likely to disappear soon.
Should the relationship fail, is Puleng fit to deal with heartbreak?
It’s always hard losing someone. It will be tough should things end but Puleng is a strong woman and she understands that the end of a relationship doesn’t mean the end of the world.
What will happen to her business now that she has to help Mangaliso?
Let’s just say that there will be a big change taking place. Puleng will be less involved in her business but she is not abandoning it.
