As 2017 draws to a close we look back at some of Rhythm City’s most memorable moments. Rhythm City, weekdays at 7PM.
Here are the five moments that we will never forget:
1. Celebrating ten years of Rhythm City
Our biggest highlight of 2017 has to be the fact that this year marked our ten year anniversary! Ten AMAZING years of drama. Boy did we celebrate.
2. Suffo finds out the truth about the baby
This has to be the secret of the year! Suffo believed that Puleng was carrying his brother’s baby. When he found out that Niki actually knew that he was the father and that she kept it from him, all hell broke loose.
3. Putting sexual violence in the spotlight
In collaboration with the Brothers for Life campaign, we shed light on sexual violence in one of our most important storylines of the year. The rape scene was a difficult one for the young actors to portray, but they felt a responsibility to take a stand against rape. We’re super proud of them.
4. Sfiso’s memorial
We were devastated when we heard the news of Dumi Masilela’s passing in August. After extensive consolation with his family, the show’s producers decided to write Dumi’s passing into the script.
Dumi’s character, Sfiso died in an attempted hijacking, the exact same way that Dumi died in real life. In a final tribute to Dumi an on screen memorial was held for his character.
The episode featured cameo appearances by Dumi’s real life mother and brother.
We will miss and love you always, Dumi.
5. Kop and Blossom’s wedding
After more than year since Mamokete’s passing, Kop finally found love again! Kop and Blossom got married in a beautiful traditional ceremony that warmed our hearts.
This year has been filled with so many highs and lows!
