Fresh from starring in various award-winning local productions, Siyabonga Twala has been bitten by the Rhythm City bug.
On Tuesday, 10 December, Siyabonga will make his debut as DH Radebe – David Genaro’s nemesis.
About the character:
DH is a rich, powerful, charming and confident mogul who tramples all over Genaro’s territory, much to David's annoyance. He was raised outside of South Africa and has always hero-worshipped his father, who was only sporadically present in his life. He's been with many women, but has never fallen in love. He arrives as a man of mystery who's in Joburg because he has an obsessive quest for revenge.
About the actor:
Siyabonga has starred in various award-winning productions in his 24 years in the industry. One of his most notable productions was in the 1996 movie for TV, Born Free: A New Adventure. He went on to feature on EmziniWezinsizwa, Isidingo, Soul City and Gaz'Lam.
Born and raised in Umlazi in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, Siyabonga also has vast experience in theatre. He's appeared in stage shows like Janice Honeyman's Turkish Delight, Burning Blue, Aladdin and Blues Brothers. He bagged a Vita award for his role in Blues Brothers.
He also played publisher, Vusi Zwane, on e.tv's soapie Scandal, a role that won him the the Golden Horn for Best Actor in a Soap at the 2nd annual South African Film and Television Academy Awards (SAFTAs) in 2007.
