We investigate how an artist was arrested for the murder of a sex worker in Cape Town. Case Closed, Tuesdays at 9:30PM.
Sex worker Nokuphila Kumalo (23) was beaten to death by world-renowned artist Zwelethu Mthethwa in Woodstock in 2013.
CCTV footage showed Mthethwa violently attacking and kicking Kumalo more than 60 times.
The police were able to track down Mthethwa by identifying his one of a kind black Porche, which ultimately led to his arrest at Cape Town International Airport where he had just landed from an international trip.
After a lengthy trial where he maintained his innocence and cited memory loss, Mthethwa was eventually found guilty and sentenced to 18 years in prison for Kumalo’s murder.
