Some thought he was rude and arrogant while others thought he was clever and funny. Stand-up comedian Loyiso Gola recently had an awkward interview with Channel24.
Ntombi Mlangeni from Channel24 introduced Loyiso as the “award winning” comedian and he corrected her by saying he is an “Emmy-nominated” comedian, adding “award winning is so vague.”
And it just deteriorated from there with Loyiso refusing to answer questions about his personal life, and mocking her question about his thoughts on the worst pick-up lines. “There are some things I’ve thought of and there are some things I’ve never thought of, and I’ve never thought of which pick-up lines people shouldn’t use.” Even after this response, a relentless Ntombi pushes on with the same question, “so there’s no pick-up line that you think is the worst?” To which Loyiso answers “no.”
A flustered Ntombi then remarked, “You’re very difficult to connect with.”
But things really got weird when Loyiso launched into a soliloquy about religion saying “Hell doesn’t exist, Satan doesn’t exist. Should I go on?” Ntombi eggs him on and he adds “I think religion is a very simple way of approaching issues.”
At some point Ntombi gives up and leaves the interview and Loyiso takes the reigns and interviews himself.
