Ambitions tells the story of Qhawe Ledwaba, a journalist, who discovers that the displaced community of Supingstad is living in squalor on the back of broken promises by their government. Qhawe finds that the community is still waiting to receive the housing and facilities promised to them as compensation for their removal from their informal settlement, to make way for the building of a new clinic.

Meet the cast:
Qhawe Ledwaba played by Zikhona Bali
Qhawe is a determined young journalist at Umbuzo Weekly who will stop at nothing to uncover corruption. She was raised by her struggle-activist mother- Nomandla Ledwaba and we soon learn that the shame of her mother being labelled a traitor of the struggle has always haunted her and Qhawe is determined to find out the truth of what exactly happened to her mother.
Gogo Lizzie played by Mary Twala
Gog’ Lizzie as she is fondly known, is everyone’s loving grandmother. Having lived in Supingstad for all her adult life, Gog’ Lizzie wants nothing more than a key to her own house for her and her close-knit family.
Thato played by Kagiso Modupe
Thato is a frustrated waiter and community leader trying to make a real difference in Supingstad. The lack of service delivery in Supingstad prompts him to spearhead protests and unrest as the local government refuses to listen to their demands.
Jo Davey played by Ashley Hayden
Jo is the no-nonsense editor of Umbuzo Weekly who takes Qhawe under her wings. She yearns for the old days of hard-hitting investigative journalism and to expose the corrupt cracks of the democratic state.
Dumo Cibane played by Yonda Thomas
Dumo is an overambitious quantity surveyor and co-owner of Cibane Consultants along with his brother Wandile. Winning becomes everything to Dumo as the true meaning of power blurs the difference between right and wrong.
Wandile Cibane played by Luzuko Ntleko
Wandile is Dumo’s younger brother and the engineering brain behind Cibane Consultants. Quiet, reserved and ethical, Wandile wants to make a real difference in the community of Supingstad.
Sbu Twala played by Thulani Khubeka
Sbu is the devious and dangerous MEC for infrastructure who will do anything to become the Premier of the province. Sbu’s dirty schemes get out of hand as the body count in Supingstad rises and his star falls.
Athos Butshingi played Peter Se-Puma
Athos is a struggle hero and the owner and CEO of Butshingi Holdings, a thriving construction company that relies on corruption and political connects to stay ahead. He's also a vital persona in the drama surrounding Qhawe’s mother Nomandla and her mysterious death in an underground military camp in Angola, during apartheid.
