Rhythm City stars share their memorable Mandela moments and what he meant to them.

Sethabi Taunyane (KOP) -  "Tata Mandela I would like to thank you for all that you have done for the nation. We will continue to live and uphold all your teachings. Amandla."

KB  (Lucilla) - "Tata there is so much that you have taught us and thank you very much for that. One of the most important lessons that we must all hold onto is the fact that throughout all your greatness all over the world you have remained humble in everything that you have done."

Connie Chiume (Mamokete)  "Tata, was just such a warm man. The first time I met him was years ago at a radio station launch. He was sitting right in front with all the other dignitaries. And as we went on to greet them all of the dignitaries greeted us while they were seated. Tata Mandela was the only one who actually stood up to greet us. That was when I knew of his greatness. The second time around, a year later I was co coordinating an event for the UN. And when Tata and the rest of the dignitaries walked on to stage, Tata immediately came straight to me and greeted me. I was so happy and surprised. I also wasn’t sure why he did it. Maybe he remembered me from the last time?"

Nolo Phiri (Niki)"I had never met Tata personally but in 2010 I was part of the creative team that threw a 20th anniversary event in Cape Town  at Victor Vester Prison, in celebration of his life after prison. Through this I got to learn more about him and I was honoured as I got the opportunity to engage in his world and really understand the power behind this man. It made me realise why our history was so paramount to me, and everything I want to be."

Dumi Masilela (Sifiso)"I met Nelson Mandela in 2008, when the soccer team I was playing for then won the premier cup. The feeling was so unbelievable. For someone that was an actual world icon he really was a gentle spirit. What a friendly guy!"
