Renowned Nollywood actress Lydia Forson joins Scandal! as the eccentric and vivacious character Aku.
Lydia Forson - an award-winning Ghanaian actress, writer and producer - joins Scandal! as the character Aku who embarks on an online dating mission and soon sets her eyes on Kila (Siyabonga Shibe).
After flirting with Kila online, Aku gets on the next plane to South Africa to pursue her love interest. But when she arrives, she finds out she has to compete with Gloria (Marjorie Langa) for Kila’s attention. Confident and seductive, Aku leaves no table unturned in luring Kila into her arms.
Series producer Isle van Hemert told e.tv Online that the series included the Ghanaian storyline as a way of acknowledging support from Scandal's Ghanaian audience.
“Scandal! has an ever-growing and loyal viewership in South Africans and other African countries,” said van Hemert. “In particular, Ghana, has proved to have a strong fan-base. We are excited to be featuring one of Africa’s most esteemed actresses on Scandal! and we trust viewers will enjoy this storyline.”
A revered Nollywood actress, Forson was the first Ghanaian actress to win an Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role in 2010. Born in Mankessim, Ghana, her on-screen career spans over five years. She’s had cameo roles in the movies Hotel St. James, Different Shades of Blue as well as a stint in the reality show, The Next Movie Star.
Forson is also well-known for her roles in Nollywood blockbusters including Scorned, A Sting in a Tale, Masquerades and Run Baby Run.
