This week we meet Evidence Thulo, an aspiring photographer from Diepsloot, Gauteng who is using her images to highlight problems in her community.
Through her photography she helped to establish the Diepsloot Change Association (DCA) which tries to solve problems that are affecting the community.
“If there was one thing I could change in my community it would be the mindsets of people, and I would start by targeting the youth first.”
She passed her matric last year and is currently exploring her options although she would love to study photography and filmmaking.
“Through photography I see the future, by telling other people’s stories and sharing their ideas.”
Evidence joined the Umuzi Photo Club last year and says this youth development organisation “brought light into my eyes” and equipped her with leadership skills.
The Umuzi Photo Club is a youth development organisation that works with young people in under-resourced communities to create socially informative multimedia, which inspires engaged citizenry, youth activism, and change.
Evidence is already excited to vote in the upcoming elections. Her dream for South Africa is for equality amongst people.
