Filming of the much anticipated Avengers sequel in the Johannesburg CBD will start on Tuesday afternoon.

Residents need to prepare themselves for road closures that will be taking place over the next two weeks.

Johannesburg metro police spokesperson Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said Albertina Sisulu Street will be blocked off between Harrison and Rissik streets from 6PM until the early hours of Wednesday morning.

He said the road will be closed again every day until Thursday.

“From 14 to 23 February President Street will be blocked between Rissik and Eloff Streets and Joubert Street between Harrison and Rissik Streets. Parts of Commissioner, Sauer and Albertina Sisulu Streets would also be closed,” Minnaar told e.tv

He said on Thursday Kingsley Sithole Street and Brazil Zuma Street in Orlando East will be closed to traffic.

“The public needs to exercise patience and make use of alternative routes.”

He urged motorists to use Jeppe, Bree, Pritchard, Marshall, and Anderson Streets.

The sequel, Avengers: Age of Ultron, will again feature Robert Downey Jr, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, and Chris Hemsworth as the popular superheroes.
