South Africa’s longest-running parenting TV programme, Great Expectations will take viewers on a trip down memory lane today (On Tuesday, 9th April 2013) with presenters Lebo Mashile & Uveka Rangappa, as the show looks back and celebrates its 1 000th Episode.

Since its first live broadcast in May 2006 the show has played a significant role in helping South African parents with the life changing journey into parenthood. Through its lively and interactive chat, the show allows viewers to interact with the hosts and panel of experts, discussing everything from labour pains and toddler discipline, to getting back into shape after the birth of a baby.

Aimed primarily at mums on maternity leave, Great Expectations started as a 30 minute slot on e.tv, with Samantha Cowen as its very first anchor. Seven years later, the show has grown into an hour long show aimed at mums of under-fives, with two amazing new presenters.

“Over the past seven years, the show has been a home for many new mothers and parents. The concept has evolved and has become a strong catalyst for facilitating interaction between our viewers, medical as well as lifestyle experts. It is a platform for new parents and expectant parents to share important information and assist each other with day to day parenting challenges while remembering to celebrate the joys of parenting. Watching Great Expectationsgrow is a truly satisfying experience,” commented Head of Local Productions, Keshni Rajoo.

“Watching the impact the show has made on viewers has been extremely rewarding. One of the greatest achievements for the show has been providing a network of support and expert advice to viewers faced with tough parenting issues. It hasn’t always been easy but we have enjoyed many memorable moments and had a lot of laughs along the way,” concluded the show’s Co-Producer and eNews prime time anchor, Sally Burdett.

Catch Great Expectations every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning at 11:30AM for a life style parenting experience with a difference.
