Here she studies midwifery under her mother, learns about Islam, and how to read and write from her father.
But Aminata’s happy life is cut short when slave traders kidnap her and she begins an unimaginably harrowing journey.
Will her resilient spirit survive this hardship? And what will happen to her when she becomes the property of South Carolina-based plantation owner Robinson Appleby?
