e.tv and eNCA announce 3rd Degree’s ‘final’ broadcast and Debora Patta to leave the channels.
Free-to-air channel e.tv and its sister company eNCA have announced that 3rd Degree with Debora Patta will air for the last time on Tuesday 14th May 2013.
The channels have confirmed that the show’s executive producer and anchor, Debora Patta, will be leaving to pursue other interests as a freelancer for international news companies.
She tendered her resignation which was accepted by the management of eNCA and e.tv.
“It is simply time for change” says Group Head of News, Patrick Conroy. “After 15 years of service Debora wants to explore other options. We’ve been in discussions about the future of 3rd Degree for several months. In the end she felt she wanted to try something new working as an independent freelancer. We agreed and will now explore a different on air offering.”
Conroy says no final decision has been made about the future of the 3rd Degree programme post Patta’s departure.
“We’ll take a break for a while and consider our options. There were planned changes in the pipeline anyway” he says.
Conroy says negotiations are still underway and until they are concluded the channel would be unable to discuss the changes publicly. However management can confirm that Justice Malala’s show The Justice Factor is scheduled to air on both eNCA and e.tv in coming months.
The rest of the 3rd Degree team will be re-assigned to current shows, while some will work on a revamped current affairs offering.
“We’d like to thank Debora for her 15 years of service and wish her well with her new business venture” says Monde Twala, Head of e.tv Channels.
