The adoption process can be daunting and the Martins have had non-stop drama. We chat to Lorcia Cooper about making the decision to adopt and meeting baby Motshabi.

It’s been a taxing couple of weeks for the Martins. After deciding that adoption is their best shot at becoming parents, they find a social worker to help them find a suitable baby. But their assigned social worker Beverly Strike, brings nothing but trouble.

After probing them about their past with Njomane, making them take psychometric tests and accusing Tino of being unable to control his temper – the Martins are still not closer to finding a baby through the adoption agency.

When they meet Dintle's baby, they fall in love with her instantly and even consider the possibility of adopting her.

Will they be able to handle the manipulative Dintle?

We chat to Lorcia Cooper who plays Erin. She tells us about her decision to adopt and falling in love with baby Motshabi.

Why does Erin want to adopt?
I think fundamentally Erin has always wanted a baby. The fact that she can’t conceive doesn’t change that need for her. She’s always wanted a family, so adoption was the best option. She also wants to honour her husband because he wants to start a family too.

In the beginning Tino didn’t like the idea of adoption, how did that make her feel?
She was disappointed because it got to a point where it didn’t matter how she got the baby. But at the same time she understood Tino’s reservations. But he did come around in the end.

What fears does she have about adopting a child?
I don’t think the fears surface until the mother of the baby comes into the picture – when they have to work around the mother of the baby they want to adopt.

Tino was hell-bent on adopting a coloured baby, is this something that’s important to Erin as well?
It was more a means of getting a child that’s similar to them more than anything. But after seeing baby Motshabi, everything changed. A baby is a baby.

How does she feel about baby Motshabi?
She loves her. She fell in love with her the first time she saw her.

Does she trust Dintle?
Not at first. I don’t think she necessarily does otherwise she wouldn’t have turned her away the first time when she came to the penthouse asking them to adopt her baby.

What lengths would she go to adopt a baby?
It’s hard to say any length because Tino and Erin are an upstanding couple with good morals so they won’t go as far as killing someone to get the baby. It’s just not in them. But she will go as far as trying to send Dintle to another city to study and lie to her husband about it.

The adoption process has been very stressful for both her and Tino, will things get easier in the next few weeks?
In the next few weeks we will possibly see their dream coming alive because that’s the closest they come to having a baby.
