Top 5 Yoh! moments of 2015

We all know that e.tv took TV drama to a whole new level this year. But these were the moments that really made us all go YOH!

1. Z’bondiwe: When Roxanne shot Killer
We anticipated that the Z’bondiwe finale was going to be fire, but this was super unexpected! Just as Killer was about to shoot Ntando in the face, Roxanne came and saved the day. She shot and hopefully murdered Killer.

2. Matatiele: When the baby went missing

Besides finding out that the baby is Zanezulu reincarnated, and that the woman who came to help Nontle give birth to him was a ghost, the most shocking moment from this season was probably when the baby actually went missing. The finale showed us he was floating down a river, will he ever make his way back home?

Related: #Matatiele’s Top 5 YOH! Moments

3. Umlilo: When Khwezi made Mnqobi shoot Dumile

OMG! It was the craziest scene on Umlilo. Knowing Dumile is pregnant, Khwezi made Mnqobi shoot her in her stomach. And then, unexpectedly she actually didn’t burn them alive the way they did her family.

4. Ashes To Ashes: Tsietsi shoots Mandlakazi
In one of the most heartbreaking scenes, Tsietsi shoots his mother and watches her life slip away as he is arrested. Brace yourselves, because season 2 is on its way.

5. Scandal!: Thembeka murders Vuyo on her wedding day
Yoh! Thembeka ain’t got no chill. But, to be fair, neither does Vuyo. He tried to bribe money from her and threatened to ruin her wedding day. So she took care of business proper. Don’t mess with Thembeka, even in a wedding dress she will push you over a railing and kill you, dead!

Do you agree with our top 5 Yoh! moments from this year? Let us know what your thoughts are in the comments.

Our 10 favourite scandals from Scandal!

Scandal! cast

Which of these do you think was the biggest scandal on the soapie this year?

1. Anzani was kidnapped and she slept with Dustbin Man

Anzani

Phehello (aka Dustbin Man), hated the fact that his father loved his brother, Lerumo, more than him so he kidnapped Lerumo’s girlfriend and now wife, Anzani. Later, Lerumo needed a liver transplant and Anzani took a gamble by contacting Phehello and went on to sleep with him to secure a liver for Lerumo. It almost ended their relationship, but Lerumo lived and the pair reconciled and eventually got married. Even though it cost Anzani her chieftainship.

2. Dintle slept with Mangi and faked her pregnancy

Dintle and Mangi

Dintle wormed her way into Mangi’s life while he was still in prison. She heard Maletsatsi was starting bible studies for prisoners, so she signed up and made sure she was paired with Mangi. When that wasn’t enough she cooked up more lies so she could get private visits with him. She also got rid of Mangi’s drug mule ex, Ruby, and faked a pregnancy so Mangi could marry her while he was still in jail.

3. Lindiwe was a mean girl

Lindiwe and Omphile

The youngest Ngema girl, Lindiwe, started off by lying about acing a maths test only for her parents to find out that she failed and they grounded her. But they were never ready for what followed after that. Thanks to bad influences (namely Shoki), Lindiwe got involved in online bullying, blackmailed her brother, got into underage drinking and was even caught shoplifting. Her father almost sent her back to KZN.

4. Thembeka killed Vuyo

Thembeka's wedding

Thembeka was just about to walk down the aisle with her dream Nyathi man, Quinton, when nurse Audrey’s boyfriend, Vuyo, showed up and tried to thwart her plans by blackmailing her about switching Jessica and Quinton’s baby’s DNA results. Thembeka didn’t even think twice about pushing Vuyo to his death over the railing and dumping his body in the river the next day.

5. Scelo dropped out of varsity

Scelo

Scelo got so frustrated with his engineering course, he decided engineering wasn’t the career path he wished to follow. He called the company that awarded him with a bursary and cancelled it without consulting his parents. He planned to find a job and keep his dropping out a secret, but it didn’t quite work out that way. He finally came clean to his parents and not only did Mlu not speak to him, he kicked him out. Scelo also started dating Kitso much to his parents’ disapproval. He even got a credit card to try to impress her and even lived with her when his parents kicked him out.

6.  Shakira burned down the prison and escaped

Shakira

Things turned sour for Shakira behind bars and her only option was to escape. First she tried to embezzle money from Lucas, then Layla told her she was going to testify against her at the parole hearing. She got on Dimps bad side by banging Larissa’s head against a bed post and when she got into trouble for that she was caught seducing warden Vermeulen. Mama Ruth helped Shakira escape by starting a fire. Afterwards the prison assumed she died in the fire while she walked. During the fire, Lucas and Stokkies saved the lives of warden Wandile, they were then pardoned and released from prison.

7. Gontse returns home pregnant

Gontse

Sparks started flying between Gloria’s daughter Gontse and Ndumiso (who rents a backroom on Gloria’s yard) when they had a business idea of importing clothes and beads between South Africa and Dubai (where Gontse was based at the time). One thing led to another and the pair ended up having a thing before Gontse left for Dubai only for Gontse to return pregnant.

8. Lucas seduced Maletsatsi

Lucas and Eddie

Lucas blackmailed Eddie into writing a book about him but Eddie quickly got on his wrong side when he confronted him about the bad things he’d done in his past. Lucas then planted an evil seed in Eddie’s head by implying that he previously had an affair with Eddie’s wife, Maletsatsi. Lucas went on to seduce Maletsatsi during a bible study session in his hotel room after the lights went off due to “load shedding”.

9. Mlungisi’s ex-lover came back

Mlungisi

Mlungisi was surprised when a woman from his past (Boitshoko) came looking for him at NFH and later went on to stalk his family. It turned out Mlungisi had an affair with Boitshoko for years while he was working in the mines even though he was already married to Zinzile. It was revealed that Mlungisi has a daughter (Omphile) with Boitshoko and she didn’t have long to live before she succumbed to cancer.

10. Quinton cheated on Thembeka

Naledi and Quinton

Thembeka made a huge mistake when she humiliated Dintle at her bridal shower because Dintle got her revenge by paying a stripper (Sinnamon) to sleep with Quinton at his bachelor party, and even got a photo as proof of his infidelity. As if that wasn’t enough, Quinton had an affair with Thembeka’s friend, Naledi, after he found out that Thembeka may have been behind the switching of his son’s DNA results.

I’m looking forward to the next year, I’m looking forward to growing as an actress, and I’m looking forward to more challenges and growth.

Ntando Duma who plays Zinzi

2015 has been the best year of my life, I started Rhythm City this year and I’ve grown so much. Everything that has happened this year has been a highlight. For 2016, I’m looking forward to shooting movies, maybe. I’m very ambitious and I’m a hard worker so I hope I get a movie. I want to grow bigger in the industry, I’m also a dancer so I’d like to venture to that.

Amo Chidi who plays Reneilwe

My 2015 highlight has to be getting signed to a big record label, for those who don’t know, I’m a singer and I’ve got a single on the works, expect it soon. Next year I’ll be turning 26 and I’m not looking forward to that (laughs), but I’m looking forward to having a beautiful fruitful year when it comes to my music and acting.

Ismauel Songo who plays Sabelo

Being on Rhythm City and playing such a complex character has been great, but my biggest 2015 highlight will have to be the Nyaope storyline we did on the show. I loved everything about that especially the awareness it brought up in communities. Next year I’m looking forward to better and stronger storylines when it comes to Sabelo on the show.

What has been your 2015 highlight?
