We spoke to DJ Arch Jnr’s dad just minutes after his son won SA’s Got Talent 2015.

Last night during a nail-biting finale, DJ Arch Jnr was crowned the winner of SA’s Got Talent 2015, taking home the R500 000 grand prize.

He beat a list of some of our most talented finalists, including ventriloquist Isabella Jane, dance crew Stylers, rapper KN9ne and musicians Will Rayz and Henno William.

“We are just going to keep on doing, what we’re doing. He’s still young and there is still a lot that will happen as he grows and mature. For now, he’s still a kid and he’s just going to continue as he does. He goes to crèche and DJ because he loves it. Tomorrow is another day.” his father, Glenn, said moments after he stepped off stage.

The 3-year-old looked very happy as he sat on his father’s lap. “He just thinks he won another Golden Buzzer.” His father explained that the toddler was excited to see DJ Fresh and all he wanted was to get another Golden Buzzer from his favourite DJ.

“I don’t think that winning will affect his life in any negative way. He has great parents and we are here to guide him.”

Watch the full interview with DJ Arch Jnr below:

Last night it was also revealed that SA’s Got Talent will return for another season next year! What are you waiting for? Get cracking on those auditions today.

Nicky Greenwall on what all celebs have in common

After 13 years in the media industry, interviewing local and international celebrities, Nicky Greenwall knows a thing or two about the elusive celebrity culture and what it means to be a celebrity.

Here’s what she shared with us.

What are the most common questions viewers/fans/non-celebs ask you and what are your responses?
Our aim with The Close Up is that viewers shouldn't need to ask the question "What were they really like?" because we have answered it with the show. We like the interviews to feel as intimate and "real" as possible.

What was your favourite interview on The Close Up so far and why?
I don't have any favourites. Each story is worthy of telling. Ones that have personally affected me more than others are ones that I can relate to. Everyone will relate differently to each story depending on their own perspective. It is our hope that the human experiences these celebrities have been through will help people at home navigate their own setbacks.

Who is on your interview bucket list and what do you want to know from her/him?
I interview whoever is relevant to our audience. I try to be as impartial as possible. Some of the people I've interviewed I have heard of, others I may not be all that familiar with. If they are important to our audience then they are important to me. My personal feelings don't count. That, to me - is what makes for a good interview.

Iko Mash on joining Rhythm City

Actor Iko Mash recently joined Rhythm City as Zahr, a transgender woman. He chats to us about his role and Bash. Rhythm City, weekdays 7PM.

How did you feel when you got the call about the role of Zahr?
I was ecstatic. It had been a while since I last did a soapie and getting Rhythm City was exactly what I needed for my career.

Tell us about your role, what is Zahr about?
Zahr is a transgender woman who doesn’t want to be seen for her sexuality. She’s unconventional and different. Usually we expect gay people and transgenders to be in the beauty and hair industry but Zahr is here to show people that she’s not a stereotype. She’s an events organiser, working for a corporate company.

What have you enjoyed the most about being on Rhythm City so far?
What I love the most about what I’m doing is how I’ve been able to transform into the character. I also work with an amazing crew and cast, plus I love Zahr because she can do things I can’t do. Also, Rhythm City plays at prime time so I’m seen by millions of people, who wouldn’t love that. But what I am grateful for the most is how hard the team at Rhythm City worked around the transgender issue. They are showing transgender in a positive light.

You play Bash’s love interest, how will that end?
It’s actually not going to end as bad as expected because Zahr is a fascinating person. The interest from Bash will grow but it will also come as a confusion for Bash when he gets to know the truth.

Does Zahr really like Bash or is she using him for the pageant?
Zahr just loves the attention and Bash is giving it to her. Will she fall for him? You will have to stay tuned for that.

What can we expect from Zahr in the next couple of days?
Expect drama because Bash eventually finds out the truth and he flips.

Khanyi Mbau talks about her first big-screen film role

Katch it With Khanyi host Khanyi Mbau stars in her first ever feature film, Happiness is a Four-Letter Word, set to hit theatres in February 2016.

Set in Johannesburg, the film is an adaptation of the Cynthia Nozizwe Jele novel, which follows the lives of three strong and determined friends, who learn that happiness doesn’t exactly come with a manual.

“The movie represents the many faces of the woman in South Africa. How they survive, their careers, personal issues, happiness and the challenges they face.”

The three leading roles are played by Khanyi, Mmabatho Montsho and Renate Stuurman. Khanyi plays the role of Zaza, a glamorous “trophy wife” who has everything she could ever wish for, except happiness.

“Zaza is very similar to the old me. She’s married to a wealthy man and she can have anything she wants. But money can’t buy happiness. We learn about the challenges in Zaza’s marriage and what really happens behind closed doors,” Khanyi explains.

When preparing for this role, Khanyi had to really reflect on her past and says she would often think to herself, “What would the old Khanyi do?” She says she really had to tap into the minds of the women of South Africa, how they converse and the challenges they face. “I would watch people and see how women would converse and interact with their children.”

She admits sharing the screen with Mmabatho and Renate was a little intimidating at first. “Starring in a feature film alongside Mmabatho and Renate was very daunting but it shows that I’ve really come a long way and that people are taking my craft seriously.”

Khanyi believes, “You are only as good as your last performance.” Ever humble she says that she knows she is not yet the best but she’s grateful for this opportunity. “I can say that I’ve lived and to me this is a great achievement.”

Happiness is a Four-Letter Word opens at Ster-Kinekor cinemas nationwide on 19 February.

Siphiwe Mtshali on being Bash

$

Actor Siphiwe Mtshali talks to us about playing Bash on Rhythm City.

Tell us what your Rhythm City journey has been like
I started on Rhythm City almost six years ago and my character Bash, has evolved so much. Bash came in as a vandal but now he’s taken a role of big brother to Reneilwe and Mampho and he’s also the manager of Kilowatt. He’s just trying to go the straight route and I love that. I’ve loved playing a character like him.

Last week, Bash found a love interest that happened to be a man, how did Bash not see that his crush was a man?
Bash was so in love with Nox that when she left, he was devastated. Bash has been waiting for any woman to come his way and make him forget about Nox. So when Zahr came along, he saw a great opportunity to fall in love again, plus Zahr had money. He also thought that being with Zahr would make him look good, because Fats has a girlfriend, Spheshil has someone and Suffocate has two women. So all his friends are in relationships and he was feeling left out. He couldn’t see that Zahr was a man because he was so desperate for a relationship.

What is his relationship with Zahr going to be like now?
After finding out the truth, Bash is no longer interested in a relationship. It’s just business as usual for him especially after Jamaica told him how much money gay people have and how they will spend it at the club. So he’s just being nice to get business.

Please tell us about being on set. What is it like there?
[Laughs] Rhythm City has the craziest set I’ve ever been on. We are all crazy, but from what I’ve seen, Bash, Zinzi, Fats and David Genaro are the craziest on set.

Bash has been getting a lot of love on social media, what message do you have for your fans?
I can’t believe how loved Bash is. I love my fans, I’m very humbled by the love. Thank you for the support.

Catch Simphiwe Mtshali as Bash on Rhythm City, weekdays 7PM.

You can share your entry with your friends using #etvhero on Facebook and Twitter. And you can also see what the rest of Mzansi is entering on our website. If your entry is chosen, you’ll see yourself on e.tv from 1 February! You could also win your share of cool prizes to the value of R130 000.

Good luck and happy filming!
