eKasi will be going into its 6th Season in 2014 starting with all-new stories on Monday 6 January.
The township drama series started off by commissioning only five stories, but has commissioned 52 dramas in 2013. The various production houses selected will collectively produce a total of 52 dramas, each 46 minutes long.
Dramas from the 6th season will once again capture the nuances of township life, exploring various narrative themes and film genres such as comedy, drama, romance, action and thriller.
Drawing inspiration from the news of the day and our national zeitgeist, these dramas will also explore and include storylines about issues in South Africa’s struggles in the townships. The next season of
eKasi remains a development model for both writers and producers, giving production companies an opportunity to break in the industry.
The 6th season will kick off on Monday 6 January 2014 at 9PM. Below are the synopses of the dramas that will be aired from January until end of March.
Blind Date

A young woman goes to meet her blind date at a restaurant. Having waited for about half an hour, she eagerly chats up the first guy who greets her, thinking he is the date. She takes him home, has a good time and then the guy leaves the following morning. She then receives an sms from the ‘real’ date who is angry because he ‘waited and waited’ for her almost for four hours! Where the hell was she? She has fallen love with the wrong man. Will he be back for her?
